Dhaka filmfest to host Iranian ‘Driving Lessons’

Iranian short ‘Driving Lessons’ is to vie at the Dhaka Int'l Film Festival in Bangladesh.

Iranian acclaimed short film ‘Driving Lessons’ has been set to vie at the Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.

Directed by Marzieh Riahi, the 13-minute short will be in competition with 28 other works at the Woman Filmmaker section of the 18th edition of the Bangladeshi event.

‘Driving Lessons’ is about a young girl named Bahareh who must have her traditional controlling husband accompany her on driving lessons so she and her male instructor would not be alone.

The star of the flick is Linda Kiani, who is a popular name on ifilm as she has been in a number of the channel’s series such as ‘Warm Breath’, ‘Day of Envy’ and ‘Until Being with Sorayya’.

The film has already attended and won awards at various international events including, the jury’s special award at the Film Festival for Women’s Rights in South Korea, the best short drama award at the “I Will Tell” international film festival in the UK and the best film award at the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy.

Established in 1992, the Dhaka International Film Festival is a biennial film festival in Bangladesh.

This edition of the event is slated for January 11-19, 2020.
